Evaluation of foreign diplomas
EP-Nuffic is the central point of contact in the Netherlands for the evaluation of foreign diplomas awarded for higher education and general secondary education.
EP-Nuffic issues approximately 20,000 written evaluations each year. Most applications come from:
- Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences that need to know if a foreign student is qualified for a specific study programme;
- Dutch students wishing to use their student grant/loan entitlement for study abroad. EP-Nuffic determines the equivalence, level and orientation of the foreign programme on behalf of Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO);
- government and government bodies.
Foreign credential evaluations for individuals
Individuals with foreign credentials who wish to enter the Dutch labour market are subject to the international credential evaluation system (IDW). This evaluation system is managed by EP-Nuffic in conjunction with the Foundation for Cooperation on Vocational Education, Training and the Labour Market (SBB).
Individuals can request a credential evaluation via the website of IDW.
Nuffic Certificates for Chinese students
EP-Nuffic's Diploma Recognition Department is also responsible for issuing Nuffic Certificates to Chinese students wishing to study in the Netherlands. This certificate requires a positive verification of the applicant’s English proficiency exam result and educational background. EP-Nuffic receives approximately 5,000 requests for such certificates each year.
