Ecuador and the Netherlands sign agreement
Through a Memorandum of Understanding, SENESCYT (Ecuador) and EP-Nuffic intensify the continuous cooperation to stimulate academic mobility between Ecuador and the Netherlands.
On 14 October 2016 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between EP-Nuffic and the Secretary of Higher Education, Science and Technology (SENESCYT) of Ecuador. The signing took place in Quito.
On behalf of Freddy Weima, director of EP-Nuffic, the Ambassador of the Netherlands for Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, Mr. Wiebe de Boer, signed the agreement. On behalf of SENESCYT the General Subsecretary of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Rina Pazos Padilla, did the honours of signing.
This document is a first step toward a bilateral agreement between both countries in the field of higher education. The MoU both parties express their interest in continuing academic cooperation, allowing for more Ecuadorians to continue their education in the Netherlands. It includes the intention of creating joint scholarships in the future for excellent students that want to study an English-taught programme in Dutch universities.
Over the last two years, EP Nuffic has invested a lot of time in strengthening their relations with various Latin American countries, such as Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Chile. On behalf of Dutch universities there is a great interest in receiving more Latin American students in their programmes, since this enriches the cultural diversity in the classroom.
The website of the representative office of EP Nuffic for Latin America is a portal to studying in Holland. Here one can find the online database of English-taught study programmes in Dutch universities, information about scholarship options, visa procedures, admission requirements and practical information about studying in Holland.
